Interested in HGV/LGV Training in London? There will always be work for truck and lorry drivers. If you’re looking for a good, stable job, then this is well worth considering. To earn your professional driving licence for these types of vehicles, it’s best to go through Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) or Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) training. Aside from preparing drivers to reach the standards expected by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency or DVLA, training helps them become skilled, make better judgments and excel on the road.
There are four different categories for HGV or LGV licences: Category C, C+E, C1 or C1+E. If you will be driving a vehicle that weighs at least 3,500 kg and which may have a trailer with a maximum weight of 750 kg, you will need a Category C licence. If the trailer weighs more than 750 kg, you will have to apply for the Category C+E licence; although you will need to earn the Category C licence first. For those who’ll be driving vehicles with a minimum weight of 3,500 kg and a maximum weight of 7,500 kg, with or without a trailer that only weighs 750 kg at most, you should apply for the Category C1 licence. However, if the trailer weighs over 750 kg, you should apply for the Category C1 licence and then upgrade to a C1+E. Take note that the combined weight of the trailer and the vehicle should be less than 12,000 kg.
